My first plushie film is kind of a stop motion, but I movie the camera in most of the shots. I filmed the teddy bear climbing up the stairs. I tried to make it dramatic to add some humor. The music I chose is not exactly what I had thought of when I started editing. But I do like the exciting feeling at the end to go with what's happening in the film. I think the light was decent for being a first film. I mainly used the natural light from the window with a couple stairwell lights. I could have held my hand steadier while shooting. I could have gotten a shot from a different angle at the end to add to the effect of the story.
I think this was a pretty successful film for me as an early project for me to learn the basics of filmmaking. I spent a little bit too much time coming up with a story idea, but I did not waste time. I think I really understand the process of making a storyboard and its importance.
I thought I did an alright job filming. But when I watched the clips in Final Cut Pro, I realized how bad and shaky I was. I will focus on being steady and smooth when free hand filming in the future.
I really enjoy editing film clips and changing the audio around to perfectly compliment the video.
I didn't have any trouble uploading or embedding.
Plushie 2 film storyboard:
Brian Gawlik - He was the last cinematography teacher at BBA. He worked in studios of CNN did a lot of news videos with BBA. The Gawlik awards are made in remembrance of him.
Gawlik Room - the room next to the news room, for working in a quiet room on the computers in there
Canon Vixia - the handheld Canon camera that we used for our plushie videos, it's expensive even though it's small and compact
Clip - one segment of film that is edited in Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro,
Editing - taking the raw footage from filming and making it into a final project. you add pictures and sound and move the clips around and resize the clips
Event (in FCPX) - a folder for organizing your projects on Final Cut Pro
Final Cut Pro X (FCPX) - the software that we use for editing raw footage to make into finished films. Big time movies are made with Final Cut Pro
“Fix it in Post” - if there is a mistake or problem while filming, it can be taken care of in post production, in editing. Clever things can be done to work around or cover up the problem
Initializing SD Card in Canon Vixia - formatting the sd card, it clears all footage on the sd card so that more footage can be taken
Jonathon Levin - he was Mr. Nicholson's wife's brother, his sign is in the hall of the bottom floor of the smith center. He is important partly because he helped build up Time Warner Inc.
Library (in FCPX) - it is where each one of us keep all of our events and projects for the entire semester
“Lock it down / or lock it up” - what movie directors yell out right before the filming of a scene
BBA News Room - the room where the news interviews and videos are filmed. Now there are other videos filmed in there, but it used to be dedicated to
Pre-production - what steps are taken to prepare for a good process before the shots are filmed
Post-production - how the clips are edited in FCPX to make the film a good final project
Project (in FCPX) - one set of clips in Final Cut Pro that will be made into one final film
Scene - one set of clips in a film that are all filmed in the same spot
-A story board is very important
-The story board can be simple but it has to map out what you will film
-Even blockbuster movies go from storyboards
-Do not get the cameras wet
-Jim Raposa says "Lock it up" when the action is about to start
-You have to make a new event and new project for you films
-Close your library when you're done working so that your footage doesn't get deleted
-Make sure you are not working in someone else's library in Final Cut Pro
-The sound can be faded out and also overlapped
-A card needs to be initialized so that all of the clips are saved
